Local scouts honor war veterans with new flags at a Pocono Township cemetery.

Scouts from troop 85 met at old union cemetery in Tannersville yesterday to help the American Legion replace old U.S. flags on the graves of our veterans.

"Kids, it's very important for them to learn not only about the tradition and the thing of replacing flags but learns about history and what these veterans did during wartime," Albert Compoly, American Legion Memorial Post 903 Member, said.

Together the scouts and American Legion members replaced over six-hundred flags.

"Being together as youth showing that there are other kids that are interested in helping the community and doing service is always a great way to feel like you belong to something greater," Suzan Merritt, BSA Troop 85 Scout Master, said.
