A little bit of writing and a lot of creativity is helping families in need this holiday season. The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation is holding its Holiday Writing Contest again this year.

Students from kindergarten to eighth grade in the Pocono Mountain School District were asked to write about "how the holidays mean more than gifts". The winners will be given $500 dollars to go on a holiday shopping spree for a family in need at their school. The writers themselves will win a Pit Pass to the 2021 NASCAR race at Pocono.

"The creativity ultimately pays off in two ways, we get to share with families in need during the holiday season and the author gets a little bit of a thank you as well," Chief Chris Wagner, Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, said.

The winners are being presented their awards this evening during the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Commission's meeting in Pocono Summit.
