Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is brightening the holidays for a local family.

Belinda Harper received the keys to her new home today in Tobyhanna. The house was donated to the non-profit about two years ago but was in need of a lot of work. Harper put in over 200 hours volunteering on the project. Now, thanks to all of the hard work and a $30,000 grant from Wells Fargo, the home is completely restored.

"I’m ecstatic, not only because it’s Christmas, because I know this is a blessing. I’m coming from an apartment, I’ve been renting forever. I’ve been in the Poconos for 15 years and now I’m a homeowner," Belinda Harper, new home owner, said.

Harper will be sharing the new home with her mother and plans to continue volunteering with her Habitat for Humanity family.
