Two men are honored for their heroic efforts saving several lives at Lake Harmony.

"On behalf of Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company, thank you for your heroic efforts in this truly life-saving event. We consider your actions to be above and beyond what might be expected. The residents of Lake Harmony as well as the family members of the rescued individuals say thank you for a magnificent job well done. We commend you on this day April 15th, 2021."

On March 30th, Kevin Jones and George Hayeck sprang into action after hearing cries for help from a father, his five year old son, and three year old daughter whose kayak flipped over into the icy water.

Jones immediately paddled his kayak to the area of the floundering family. He snatched the young unresponsive girl out of the water and applied life saving techniques aboard his kayak before bringing her to shore.

He quickly returned to the lake to bring the shivering boy to safety.

Meanwhile, Hayeck jumped into the frigid water to assist the distressed father who was floating on his back safely to shore.

Lake Harmony Fire Company assisted in the rescue along with a third hero, Colleen Payne, who was not in attendance to receive her award.

Both Jones and Hayeck were given plaques and "challenge coins" given to people who show acts of valor saving people in dire need.
