Stroudsburg fire fighters will be responding to fires in new gear.

After many years the Stroudsburg Fire Department has new and improved uniforms. The fire chief says the new uniforms are lighter, more breathable and have better fire ratings. The new features could even help save their lives in a dangerous situation.

"All the new gear comes with bailout kits on their pants, so they can self-rescue to get out of a building when something bad is going on and they have to escape," Charles Frantz, said.

The fire chief says keeping fire fighters in up to date gear is extremely important to keeping them safe.
