A local church wants you to get out of the house after a really long year.

Members are holding their first basket social.

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palmerton would love to see you come out on May 8th.

They're offering an array of over one hundred baskets filled with things like candy, candles, and gift cards up for raffle. Visitors will have a selection of homemade food too. Three special prizes including lottery tickets are up for grabs as well as a 50/50 drawing. Organizers say they want to get people back together after a difficult year and are grateful for all the support.

"We thought this would be fun and exciting for everybody to get out. It gets us together for fellowship for the other church members and like I said the outpouring from the community not just church members but from the community has just been outstanding. It's overwhelming."

"All of our food's homemade. The hard work we've put in, I think really shows and the community has really put in a bunch of hard work."

The basket social is from 10 to 2pm this Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palmerton. Proceeds will fund church operations and outreach projects. If you're interested in donating or sponsoring a basket contact Mary Fronheiser at 484-464-1650.
