A local non-profit prepares to give back to Monroe and Pike county residents.
Jo's Pantry in Smithfield Township is open to any resident in need on the first Friday of every month. A wide variety of food is available from produce and dairy products to shelf ready items as well. The pantry is open from 9 a.m to noon.
"They come in and they register and they get to shop, so it's a choice pantry. We don't bag it and give to them, they get to pick their own, so they don't waste it. So, whatever they need they take it," Ida Mathew, Jo's Pantry Director, said.
The outreach program is also stocked with clothes in Jo's Closet. Men's, women's and children's clothes and shoes are available. It's located right above the pantry.
