A summer lunch program is coming to Monroe County's West End. Free lunches will be available to children under 18 at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network Food Pantry is organizing the program. All children in the community can receive a free lunch which includes fruits and crackers as well as milk or apple juice.

"During the school year kids in this area qualify... about 50% qualify for free or reduced lunch, but during the summer time they don't have that option. So instead of kids going hungry we have this program setup so we have healthy nutritious meals to turn to during lunch," Taylor Fox, PVEN Summer Lunch Coordinator, said.

Lunches will be handed out at the library on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.. PVEN will also be at Deubler's Mobile Homes on Tuesdays and the Sun Valley Fire Station on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m..
