The Northampton County bowling community comes together to help a destroyed bowling alley and its employees.
This Saturday Bar-Don Lanes in Easton is hosting a bowling fundraising tournament to benefit Hampton Lanes.
Hampton lanes saw its roof collapse from heavy snow this winter causing the owners to shut down the bowling alley to repair the severely damaged building. Now bowlers at another Lehigh Valley bowling alley are hosting a fundraising tournament, a basket raffle, and a 50-50 raffle to help members of their tightly-knit community.
"We're doing this tournament to benefit the employees and anything that they need, the extra, little bit of extra money."
"We don't look at it as though they're competition, you know, they're another business, but in the grand scheme of things in the bowling industry we're all family. Family helps out family."
News 13 spoke to Daniel Lefkovitz, the organizer of the event. Lefkovitz says he's never stepped foot inside Hampton Lanes, but when he heard about what happened he was touched and knew he wanted to show his support. The tournament is this Saturday June 12th and begins at 4pm... for more information about the event contact bar-don lanes...
