A Lehigh County teen receives the highest honor a girl scout can achieve for her work on a regional park brochure.

For two years Sarah Kolasa visited parks maintained by the Lehigh County Parks Department to develop a brochure highlighting them.

She took photos, designed a county map, and wrote updated information for places like Leaser Lake. The brochure features a different park on each panel and provides an easy way for visitors to plan outdoor trips and motivate them to visit Lehigh County Parks. Kolasa says it was fun exploring the different places, some for the first time.

"Hopefully people who can use this brochure can get a little bit of the same experience that I did making it."

The brochures can be found at several of the department's bigger park locations. Kolasa is one of eighty girl scouts in Eastern Pennsylvania to receive the prestigious girl scout gold award.
