A Monroe County library celebrates 47 years of serving the community.

The Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville started in a church. They began serving more and more people until they needed their own space for a library. The library programs and resources have changed over the years, but the importance of the library remains the same.

"It's important for literacy reasons, to get children at a very young age to start reading and.. in love with books so to speak. But we also offer other programs. So, we offer free Wi-Fi and other areas for people to come in and use their technology within our building," Patti Weiss, Library Director, said.

While the number of patrons has grown and multiplied since its inception, the library director tells us it's special to hear that some patrons have been checking out books from them since it first opened.
