Officials at Blue Mountain Resort report three inches of fresh powder overnight.

That as they officially open their 40th trail.

The new trail is the first equipped with LED lighting for night skiing and fully automated snowmaking. The black diamond starts out kind of easy, but plummets at the end, so its new name is rather fitting!

"So we had our season pass holders and our employees submit some of their favorite names and then we had a voting process for a couple of weeks. We picked some winners selected some random names. Freefall was the most popular so the official trail name is freefall."

Currently Blue Mountain Resort has 19 trails open. They plan to have 30 of their 40 trails open by the Martin Luther King holiday weekend.
